“Total harmonious relaxation cures the body. To achieve this there must be a coordination between the three facets of ourselves: body, mind and soul.” Yoga Bhajan
The ability to relax is essential for physical and mental wellbeing but is difficult to do for most people in today’s world. The physiological and neural state of a student is elevated after completing a Kriya then it is time to relax to allow the physiology of awakening and awareness begin. During the stage of relaxation the following benefits might occur:
- Rejuvenation of the body and the parasympathetic nervous system
- Releasing rigid patterns in the muscles and blood flow
- Circulating glandular changes
- Letting go of stress and learning how to handle it
- Distributes the prana around the body to revitalize and heal
Corpse Pose (Shavaasana)
Corpse Pose is the best position for deep relaxation, after a Kriya, hard day or even stressful situation. Lie on the back, arms are at the sides with the palms facing up and the legs are uncrossed and relaxed. The feet normally fall to the side for most people and the arms are usually approximately 45 degree angle from the body.
Most of the books, DVD’s and some CD’s have relaxation postures, times and information included in them.
